Shyne Pushes Copyright for Local Artists

Today at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts, the Belizean Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (BSCAP) held a press conference where they discussed the rampant use of music by businesses without the expressed permission from the music owners/creators without any consent.

In-house attorney, Marissa Longsworth stressed the legal importance of artist music being copyrighted.

CEO of BSCAP, Shyne Barrow spoke on the misuse of the artists’ work and how he has some radio stations ready to get on board with copyrighting the local music.

The idea to have the local music copyrighted has been in the pipeline for years now and it is the hope of the majority of them that it will take flight in the coming months.
