SICA Members Scheduled to Arrive to Belize on Friday

The CARICOM Summit concluded this evening on Ambergris Caye following two days of intense discussions surrounding common interests and challenges, ranging from trade to border security and from food security to climate change. Prime Minister Briceno appeared briefly on The Morning Show today where he gave a briefing on the summit’s agenda. According to the Prime Minister one of the most salient issues that arose was the Belize/Guatemala differendum.

The summit wrapped just before six o’clock this evening with CARICOM leaders. Come Friday, another round of talks will begin which will include leaders from Central America under the umbrella of SICA. Prime Minister Briceno says the Central American leaders are slated to arrive on the island tomorrow.

A press conference is currently underway with CARICOM leaders which will officially conclude this portion of the summit. We will have details of this press conference in Thursday’s newscast.
