Sierra Leone National Retains Belizean Attorney After Authorities Prevent Departure

The family of a Sierra Leone national has retained a Belizean attorney after authorities refused to let him leave the country. Back in July James Kojo Efrimea was charged for failing to show himself to an immigration officer upon entry and the court granted an order to leave against him. During his encounter with Immigration Department personnel Efremia alleges that he was a victim of extortion. Attorney Orson Elrington says that Efremia’s family retained him after they made several attempts to find out why he has not been sent back to Sierra Leone. Elrington explained what he found out and what he now has to do to get his client released.

Elrington will make the application to the High Court of Belize on Tuesday.
