The Social Security Board has responded to the National Trade Union Congress of Belize after the union chided the board in a letter sent to Chair, Nigeli Sosa. The SSB, in a wordy letter, responded to concerns raised by the NTUCB over the deputy CEO post. Sosa tells the union that the position is established by legislation within the Social Security Act and exists within the organizational structure. Additionally, the SSB says the hiring has been budgeted for this fiscal year and rebutted the NTUCB by saying that all decisions of the board are made following the act. The board also responded to the NTUCB’s issue with unresolved matters relating to the Christian Workers Union. SSB stated that its management continues to dialogue and have an open line of communication with the union representatives and has proposed a meeting date and awaiting their response.
