The first and only witness to be called for the Special Senate Select Committee hearing this morning was the Auditor General, Dorothy Bradley. Bradley, in her first statements, agreed that House Speaker Michael Peyrefitte does have the authority to recommend someone for a passport since he is a member of the House of Represenatatives. Peyrefitte had filed a lawsuit against Bradley citing that his reputation was being stained due to Bradley’s statement. In her report, Bradley had stated that Peyrefitte was not authorized to recommend someone for a passport. Today, Bradley told the committee that the statement was made in error.
Peyrefitte is satisfied that Bradley clarified the matter.
Peyrefitte hopes that Bradley’s clarification puts an end to the matter.
