A shooting incident occurred around ten o’clock this morning on Princess Margaret Drive in Belize City. Police say thirty-three-year-old Michael Meighan, a messenger at the National Sports Council, was riding his motorcycle on Princess Margaret Drive heading onto St. Thomas Street when he was intercepted by two male persons riding a motorcycle. Upon reaching the roundabout, one of the men, described as having a fair complexion and of creole descent jumped off the motorcycle and pulled out a black pistol, firing several shots in Meighan’s direction. Meighan then jumped off his motorcycle and ran towards a security guard’s post at the nearest establishment to seek safety. Scenes of Crime personnel inspected the scene and several expended shells have been recovered from the area. The victim was taken to the KHMH where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his right inner thigh. Police are currently undergoing an investigation into two suspects who are believed to be linked to the incident.
