The situation at Saint Francis Xavier Credit Union in Corozal has now gotten tense. Mayet Castillo, the chair of the Supervisory Committee, says she and one of the committee members, Jorge Cob were assaulted by Michael Riverol, the current general manager, in a scuffle at the credit union office in clear view of employees working this morning. However, the initial police report our newsroom has seen indicates that Riverol denied the supervisory committee access to the building and pushed Castillo and Cob out the door. Castillo then attempted to record Riverol’s behaviour and that’s when Riverol snatched her phone and threw it to the ground. We understand that Cob and Castillo went to the station to make a report. The former general manager, Rafael Dominguez addressed the situation today in a press conference.
