St Mary’s Primary School to Demolish Historic but Uninhabitable Building

The historic structure that housed the classrooms of St Mary’s Primary School will soon be demolished.  In 2022, the building was condemned and declared uninhabitable.  Students were since relocated into makeshift classrooms between the Samuel Haynes Institute and wooden buildings installed on the school property.  According to Dr. Jeremy Cayetano, General Manager of Anglican Schools, said that the first priority was to minimize the impact the need to relocate would have on student’s learning.

With the assistance of the Ministry of Education, the school managed to work out temporary measures including housing some students at another location. Now that students have been settled, the ministry is working with various partners including the Social Investment Fund (SIF), to begin the demolition as soon as possible.
