Stabbing Incident in La Isla Bonita Takes a Twist: Cops Now Under Investigation for Alleged Aggression
Police have launched an investigation into a stabbing incident on La Isla Bonita that left two cops injured. On Tuesday night, 35-year-old Edwin Reid and 32-year-old Kerian Mena claimed they were attacked by a man while walking on Laguna Drive. The cops alleged that they were beaten, and both stabbed multiple times. But today, the department revealed that the cops were the ones who reportedly initiated the altercation. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says that investigators have unearthed new information that may result in the officers being charged.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “An investigation was carried out into this report where a police came across a male person identified as Eric Bradley. Eric Bradley reported that he was standing on the street when he was approached by Keran Mena and Edwin Reid who began to punch him and assaulted him. All three persons received several injuries and their injuries have been classified as wounding. We are carrying out an investigation of this matter. We’ll make a determination later on today as to the charges that will be levied. They gave certain information and are being attended to at the clinic.”
Reporter: But they didn’t admit to obviously assaulting the young man ?
ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “No they mentioned that it was some kind of assault that they had intervened and they were stabbed.”
The department has obtained surveillance footage of the incident and is reviewing it.
