Street Brawls in Belize City

It was a very active weekend along the “party strip” in Belize City. There were two separate street brawls and police officers had to break up and it was all caught on camera. The first video shows a group of women involved in a chaotic fight while the second shows several men going at it. No police report has been made, however, today Police Press Officer, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood was asked for comment.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Public Relations, Belize Police Department: “We understand a lot of people were excited to get out after the lock down from March 2020 and people seem to have an aggression in them after the consumption of alcohol some just have an aggression naturally and we are asking them to desist from that sort of behavior. One, the police try to be everywhere. We try our best to address all these situations but it is virtually impossible for us to stop each and every one of these incidents. So the responsibility is on you that is attending these public events to carry yourself in a dignified manner so that we don’t have too many of these incidents reported. As you all know everybody is a videographer in Belize right now and instead of assisting or trying to defuse a situation people are quick to grab their cameras and go live so it’s up to you the individual that patronizes these night spots.”
