Super Furia Band Hosts Fundraisers to Assist Founder Battling Colon Cancer

The Orange Walk-based Super Furia Band is hosting two fundraisers this weekend to assist with the medical expenses of its founder 60-year-old Francisco Alcoser Senior. The band is hosting a live show and food sale in Orange Walk Town on Sunday, September 8. According to the Alcoser family, he was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. His daughter Roxana Anderson explained that the band-owner has been enduring severe back pains and had suffered a fall about two months ago.   

Roxy Anderson, Daughter of Francisco Alcoser: “Last week Thursday, this is when we found out. And it was shattering to all of us because, you know, just the word cancer it’s like a big thing. And knowing that, you know, that every day we see this and now it had hit us now, you know, knocking right at the door. And so we continued further tests analysis. They did a did a colonoscopy on him in which they found out , because we did a colonoscopy  last week Friday in which we found out that unfortunately he has a tumor and the tumor needs to be removed and they did a biopsy in which that is what we are waiting right now. The test results are supposed to be in sometime this week. So that will lead us to the proper treatment and they already explained to us regardless what treatment it could be either chemotherapy or radiation so far you know  but we thank God that he got a back pain which the back pain had nothing to do with the colon you know he actually had kind of like fell down which and that’s what kind of like caused a fracture in his back causing us to dig deeper and deeper and deeper until now, well, we are facing this situation. This Sunday here it’s the 8th we are planning a Sunday live show. So in which we will have all our banking information so that you guys can donate through there. Super Furia Band has been making music for over thirty years. The band has toured countrywide and has represented Belize in Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States. The band is also a two-time winner of the annual Battle of the Bands event
