Tonight, we are reporting another case of police brutality in the streets of Belize City. 31-year-old Jimmy Robinson was physically assaulted last night, allegedly at the hands of a police officer. He was purchasing food at the corner of King Street and Euphrates Avenue when the officer approached the food stall. The officer reportedly wanted to fist bump with Robinson but Robinson refused. Love News understands that the officer was triggered by his failure to do so and pulled a knife on him. Love News made an attempt to get Robinson on the record, but he chose to remain silent until the incident has been legally recorded. At today’s press briefing, Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams stated that the complaint will be dealt with at the professional standard branch and the officer in question will be investigated.
The incident occurred just after eight o’clock last night. Love News will continue to follow this story as the complainant is proposing legal action.
