Police have detained the alleged mastermind behind the landing of a suspected drug plane but are unable to gather concrete evidence against him. Last month, police discovered a single-engine aircraft along a dirt road in Frank’s Eddy Village, Cayo. The aircraft was gutted, and investigators believe it was used to transport narcotics into Belize, but no cargo was found. Since then, police have charged a female officer for allegedly facilitating the man they believe is the mastermind. But, according to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, police are yet to bring charges against the man for the illicit plane landing.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “We have located that individual and he has been interviewed. He was charged recently for breach of judicial order and that matter is before the court at this time.”
Reporter: But you haven’t found the cargo.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “No we have not been able to locate the cargo and we have not been able to tie him to the plane landing. As I said he was only wanted because we believe that he would have been able to assist the investigation. He came in and he has been interviewed but we have nothing at this time substantive we can go on to tie him to the plane landing.”
Reporter: What became of the female officer who was reportedly assisting him ?
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “That officer has been placed on internal charges and she is on interdiction waiting the hearing of that matter.”
The plane was not detected by the country’s radar system.
