Sweet Success for Belize Sugar Farmers as Revenues Reach Highest in Over Two Decades
Another set of good news emerging from the sugar sector, is the increase in revenues for the farmers. According to BSI/ASR, this is the second highest the industry has seen since the year 2000. It is cause to celebrate, as the Chief Finance Officer, Shawn Chavarria, explained.
For this year, there is one more payment remaining for farmers. Chavarria noted optimism that the third payment would also be as record breaking in recent years as was the second. Additionally, he spoke on the contributing factors for the revenue increase.
BSI/ASR has noted that these high prices will result in seventeen point eight million Belize dollar circulated into the northern economy which is higher than last year.
