The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has signed a grant agreement with the government, in the sum of three million Belize dollars.  The monies are earmarked for phase two of a low cost housing project, slated to begin early next year.  The project proposes to have some fifty homes built in Belmopan with a primary focus on first time home owners in the public service.  Minister of Housing, Julius Espat says there are still some prep work needed before construction can begin.

According to a release from the government, this housing project will be executed at the planned community development referred to as Highland Estate. This project is being implemented by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing and is estimated to have a duration of 10 months.
