Taiwan Showcases Culinary Flavors in Belmopan Cultural Exchange

The Republic of China (Taiwan), in partnership with the Belize Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, brought a taste of Taiwan to Belmopan with the 2025 International Tour of Taiwan Gourmet Cuisine. The event, held on Tuesday, at the Art Box on the George Price Highway, featured two world-renowned Taiwanese chefs who demonstrated their culinary expertise by preparing a variety of traditional Taiwanese dishes. Attendees were treated to samples of these signature creations, while also getting the chance to share their feedback directly with the chefs. But the showcase didn’t stop there. Taiwanese-owned restaurants in Belmopan also took center stage, highlighting the contributions of the local Taiwanese community to Belize’s dining scene. Formosa Café, Casa Café, and Veggie Garden all presented selections from their menus, giving visitors a glimpse of the diverse flavors they offer year-round. Taiwanese Ambassador Her Excellency Lily Li-Wen Hsu, explained that food is one of the many ways Taiwan strengthens bonds with allies.

The event also saw an address by Governor General of Belize Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam, who said that such events should inspire Belizeans to try new foods.

The event was held under the theme “Taiwan on a Plate: Bold Flavors, Warm Hearts”.
