The lifeless body of a 54-year-old taxi man was found inside his vehicle yesterday evening just after six o’clock. Mathias Alpuche, a Trial Farm Village resident reportedly had a passenger in the vehicle while traveling on the Honey Camp Road in the Petville Area of the Orange Walk District. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvette, the victim’s vehicle was observed swerving on the Honey Camp Road and came to a complete stop with a Hispanic man seen fleeing the scene. Alpuche was found bleeding profusely with stab wounds to the chest area, the right arm, and the chin.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “What the police know so far is that Mr.Alpuche was along with a passenger in that area where the vehicle was seen swerving before coming to a stop where the passenger then exited the vehicle and ran into the bushes. Police are conducting an investigation into this matter at this time. We also know that he does his taxi runs from the Queen Victoria Avenue area somewhere in the vicinity of the Town Hall so we are on the ground at this time since the incident, still on the ground, trying to continue with the investigation. At this time we do not have any suspect in our custody and we do not have a motive as yet.”
Alpuche’s body is at the Northern Regional Hospital awaiting a post mortem examination.
