Teen Arrested With Gun During Belize City Carnival Festivities

A minor was arrested on Saturday for possession of an unlicensed firearm.  The detention of the young man took place during the Carnival festivities after a fight broke out in the area of the Digi Park.  Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, spoke briefly on the arrest.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “There were small incidents of small fights however persons were detained. Also of note is that searches were conducted on a male person at the BTL Park where he was found with a 9mm pistol along with 15 live rounds. This person has been arrested and charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and he is a minor. No he is not known to police. There was an altercation and police responded and they conducted searches on several persons and he was found with the firearm.”
