Police in western Belize is looking for a fifteen-year-old who reportedly injured his stepfather. Forty-year-old Tyrel Banner says that the incident happened without warning or purpose. Three days on, Banner still does not know what caused his stepson to inflict the injuries. Correspondent Fem Cruz spoke to him about the incident.
Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: Police are looking for a fifteen year old minor of Camalote Village Cayo district in connection with a chopping incident that left forty year old Tyrel Banner, his stepfather, with multiple chop wounds to his back, shoulder, elbow and right hand. According to the victim the incident happened this past Saturday night right here in the village.
Tyrel Banner, Stepfather: “I was at home socializing when the young boy came from nowhere went inside got a machete came out back and started firing some chops at me. But right now he is on the run I hope and pray he gives up himself because things can only get worse. He just came, grabbed the machete, came out and started doing his thing. I don’t know if he’s smoking crack or something but he’s really out of hand.”
