Teenager Fatally Shot at Restaurant; Police Seek Suspect

Jonathan Josue Leonardo was fatally shot last night at the Divinas Restaurant and Bar, located at mile 47 on the George Price Highway.  Police were called to the Western Regional Hospital where they found the body of the 18-year-old, a Belizean driver from Duck Run II Village, lying motionless in the backseat of a red Mitsubishi Montero Sport with gunshot wounds. Initial investigations reveal that Leonardo and two friends were at the bar when he had a confrontation with another patron. Attempting to avoid further conflict, Leonardo left the bar and got into his vehicle, but the other person reportedly pursued him, and fired a shot through the windshield as Leonardo was reversing to exit the compound. It is speculated that the teenager was attempting to escape the bullets by moving into the backseat.  Leonardo was transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead at eleven o’clock last night. Police recovered fragments and bullet casings, and are working to retrieve surveillance footage.
