Teenager Gunned Down in Apparent Gang-Related Shooting on Newtown Barracks

A teenager was gunned down just after midnight in Belize City in an apparent gang-related shooting. Around 12:45, 19-year-old Leslie Young was targeted as he walked on Newtown Barracks. Police say Young had just left from socializing at a nightclub in the area and was walking to the Princess Casino when he was shot dead. Young attempted to escape the gunfire by jumping the fence of the Mexican Embassy and running into the compound, but his efforts were fruitless. The fisherman was shot multiple times and succumbed after collapsing inside the compound. Sources tell Love News that Young was associated with the BLC gang, which police say is embroiled in a heated gang war that claimed the life of Jordan Burns, who was killed in November. According to reports, Young’s murder is connected to the feud that police say they are working to resolve. Young was no stranger to the law. In 2021, he was a suspect in the murder of a minor. In 2022, he was accused of shooting at a residence but later had the charges dropped. And this year, Young was charged with the attempted murder of Sheldon Thomas, who was shot at his Hercelet Moody Street home.
