Frontline workers listed in Statutory Instrument seventy-eight has three more days to be vaccinated or produce a negative PCR or rapid test every two weeks until they get vaccinated. Forming part of the list of frontline workers are members of the Belize Defence Force. Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Velasquez says that the number of soldiers who have gotten the jab has increased significantly. He also shared that there is about three COVID-19 infections in the force.
Lt.Col. Anthony Velasquez, Chief of Staff, BDF: “Since recent weeks many soldiers have been lining up to get the vaccine. The medic centers are always full every day that we offer the vaccine so a huge number of soldiers are either taking the vaccine or have taken the vaccine. The ones that are out in the field they rotate so every two weeks they get to come out so most of them in the field right now have already taken the vaccine so that’s not a problem at all. Within the BDF yes we have a few active cases.”
