The re-opening of the Phillip Goldson International Airport has been postponed, but local tourism outlets are still producing products for the inevitable resurrection of the tourism industry. One major production is the travel publication by McNab Visual Strategies. This publication is dubbed The Belize Gold Book: The Gold Standard for Belize Travel. The ninety-six-page publication entails local insights into Belize as a tourism destination coupled with the enhanced health and safety protocols developed by the Belize Tourism Board alongside the Ministry of Health. Creative Director, Tanya McNab says the main idea is to promote what Belize has to offer by way of attractions, food, investment opportunities, and a retirement destination.
Tanya McNab,Creative Director, McNab Visual Strategies: “This edition already on track to come out in Summer of 2020 obviously got quite a bit changed with the onset of COVID and so what is most important about what this new manual, I don’t want to say manual but, what this new publication and what this new guide is is that is it also has all the very important information that you need to know about travelling to Belize. traveler classification ,visitor process, what it’s like travelling through Belize’s safe corridors, how to apply and how to do all these different things, what you can expect at the airport, what you can expect in your hotel, what your next tour will look like so those are some of the really important things that now you can find under one roof in one publication. The magazine does loads and loads for the promotion of Belize it covers all our natural resources, all our districts, all our tourism areas but primarily in the front of the publication starting from page nine to page twenty two you’re going to find all the really important information that travelers are going to need, what the new rules, regulations and safety protocols are and we did this publication in collaboration with the Belize Tourism Board in their effort to make sure that travelers get this information because we don’t want people to have surprises when they get to Belize or they didn’t know what the rules, regulations and protocols were and it’s very important to keeping Belize safe when travel does reopen for people to follow these rules and regulations that are outlined in the Belie Gold Book. One of the things is that the publication has been release digitally first which allows us to make any adaptations to protocols as they go along however the current surge in cases has put in a few more strict measures which you know things at the onset a returning citizen would only quarantine for one day at a facility until they got negative test not it’s a mandatory fourteen day no matter what the case is they will do the test, when you test negative after fourteen days you’re able to go back home but over all the protocols that were set in place even from before this recent surge really covered a wide and strict gamut of instances that could occur and that’s why you see the different traveler classifications so not everybody is treated the same and that’s in an effort to protect everybody because people come for different reasons and so we can’t put everyone in one basket.”
McNab says the the 2020 Веlіzе Gоld Вооk: Тhе Gоld Ѕtаndаrd fоr Веlіzе Тrаvеl іѕ the first of its kind as a yearly issue in Caribbean Culture + Lifestyle. An online launch of the publication took place on Saturday, August 15.
Tanya McNab,Creative Director, McNab Visual Strategies: “Caribbean Lifestyle we are the publishing company put this book out to market Belize, to inform on the new protocols. You can find it on CaribbeanLifestyle.com/BelizeGoldBook. If you follow our Instagram or Facebook page you’re constantly being fed this information you know so it’s more than just a publication anymore, the print versions will be ready when the airport opens and we don’t have a firm date on that yet but we’re already in the production process so the minute the date gets announced we’ll be ready for that so that people who come in if they missed any part of the protocols they will have a second opportunity to make sure that they’re fully informed. We had a great participation from the tourism industry and we do know that that’s a struggling industry but everybody felt the need that marketing more than ever now is really important and this is gonna be the publication that the Belize Tourism Board uses to market Belize until 2021. So it allowed us to give a good opportunity to tourism stakeholders to be able to have a voice and be visible in this publication and so it is going to run a year long so everything that we put out now will benefit the country for an entire year.”
