The BSCFA is also hopeful that the Briceno Administration’s proposed amendment to the Sugar Industry Act will be ratified before the start of next year’s crop season. The proposed change to the act seeks to empower the Minister of Agriculture to receive and address disputes and complaints within the industry. It will also require that all sugar cane farmers’ associations have an agreement with the mill before the crop season commences.
