The Garifuna Kids are back in Belize

Black History month comes to an end tomorrow in the United States but here in Belize, the work to preserve African culture is a non-stop effort all year round. One group that has been working to keep the Garifuna culture alive through music is the Garifuna Kids. The musical band drew its inspiration from the Belizean punta rock legends of the 1990s and has been pumping out cultural tunes for decades. The musicians are now back in the country to reestablish musical ties and honor the Garifuna culture. Vejea Alvarez tells us more about the band’s resurgence in the 21st century.
