The Ministry of Transport’s planned reforms for public transportation means that it will be working closely with South Korea. A delegation from the ministry recently attended a five-day technical and knowledge transfer visit to the Asian country. The trip focused on capacity building for the Public Transportation Reform Project, which is funded by the Inter-American Development Bank. The delegation participated in lectures and field visits tailored to aid Belize’s public transportation development by adopting applicable solutions from South Korea’s advancement blueprint on the land transportation sector. Chief Executive Officer, Marconi Leal, Jr., says that the trip was integral in helping the Ministry achieve these critical reforms.
During the visit, Minister Rodwell Ferguson, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea National University of Transportation, which includes a scholarship for a master’s degree or doctorate in the transport or information technology field.
