The “Mr. Program” Park is Opened in Honor of the Slain Artist

On Wednesday the “Mr. Program” Park was officially opened to the residents of Kelly Street after weeks of renovation. The park, which once housed the Carlos Perdomo Empowerment Center, was named in honor of slain musician Gilbert “Mr. Program” Alamilla, who was stabbed to death in October of 2020. Alamilla was a resident of the neighborhood and a beloved artist who fought for more investment to be poured in Belize’s music industry. Area Representative for Caribbean Shores, Kareem Musa, says that when he allotted funds for community development, the first thing he wanted to do was to immortalize “Mr. Program” with a mural in his community.

The initiative was a collaboration between Area Representative Kareem Musa, the Leadership Intervention Unit, Businessman Said Perdomo, and the Belize City Council.
