The National Assembly Temporary Closes due to Staff Member Contracting COVID-19

On Thursday night we told you that a Special Sitting of the House of Representatives was scheduled to take place on Monday. That has been postponed to a day later, to Tuesday, and that’s because of COVID-19. Speaker of the House Valerie Woods confirmed to Love News this morning that a staff member of the National Assembly tested positive for COVID-19. Woods told Love News that offices and chambers were closed this afternoon until Monday. All sanitization measures and precautions are being taken. The staff member is fully vaccinated. We understand that the employees at the National Assembly follow COVID regulations and there isn’t any expectation that there will be a spread. Nevertheless contact tracing has begun. The House meets on Tuesday and the focus will be on the Blue Bonds legislation.
