Police have confirmed that the body of a man found in the Jane Usher area of Belize City is that of Akeem Augustine. The 27-year-old went missing on Christmas day while in the company of his friends. Augustine’s body was dismembered, and only his torso was recovered. According to investigators, due to Augustine’s active stage of decomposition, a post-mortem examination was unable to determine his cause of death. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, shared additional details.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “That post mortem is being conducted right now as we speak and as soon as that is concluded the doctors will determine if there is sufficient to make out a proper identification of this person if not then they will require a DNA test to be carried out.”
Reporter: But the family members haven’t gone in and maybe identified the tattoo ?
ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “All of that will be done today that is a part of the post mortem process today.”
