The Public Service Union (PSU) is lobbying for the introduction of legislation to protect whistle-blowers within the Public Service. In Friday’s sitting of the House of Representatives the Minister of Infrastructure, Development, and Housing commented on the bed of corruption within the public service and the failure by Public officers for not reporting the wrongdoings. Dean Flowers, First Vice President of the PSU told Love News that they agree that corruption must be eliminated within the public service but took offense to the Minister’s chastisement of Public Officers.
The release from the PSU went ahead and stated that Contrary to the Minister’s assertion, the PSU has consistently pointed to corruption occurring within the Ministry of Works and other Ministries. The PSU also asserted that abuse and corruption has been prevalent within the Ministry of Works as far back as 2010 even before the installment of the former Minister of Works; this was emphasized by the Auditor General in her report dated May 31 st , 2012 for fiscal year April 2010 to March 2011.
