James Brodie Company Limited has announced that its supermarket on the Phillip Goldson Highway has been closed for deep cleaning and sanitization after several staff members tested positive for COVID-19. In a customer notice sent out earlier by the company they noted that “Following the guidelines from The Ministry of Health and Wellness to protect the health and well-being of employees, customers and the communities, we would like to announce to the public that Brodies Superstore on the Northern Highway will be closed until Friday September seventeen.” While the number of persons who have tested positive is unknown reports to our newsroom indicate that at least a dozen people have tested positive. Meanwhile, The Supreme Court and General Registry is closed for the rest of the week after four of its employees have tested positive for COVID-19. Another three employees remain in isolation. A release from the court’s registrar says that while the offices are closed, a skeleton staff is assisting with urgent applications. Bail applications, in the meantime, will be heard remotely. During the closure, the office spaces will be sanitized as a precaution.
