An official closing ceremony for the Belize Entrepreneurship Fest was held this afternoon in Belmopan. The initiative is a partnership with the US Embassy and the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) through its Small Business Development Center (SBDC Belize). Twenty-seven entrepreneurs from the Belize, Orange Walk, and Stann Creek districts participated in the three-day conference that was held in December last year. Today, six of the participants who competed in a pitch competition were awarded grants to assist with the development of their businesses. US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Leyla Moses-Ones spoke on the essential role small businesses play in the economy and importance of helping them grow.
One of the first-place winners of the pitch competition, Tamaria Rocke who is the owner of Refilleryco (RE-FILL-RY) Belize. Rocke spoke about the knowledge she received during the training and how it will impact her business.
The closing ceremony was held at the US Ambassador’s residence in Belmopan.
