Nisbet-Cansino shared that the KHMH continues to deal with a backlog of elective surgeries from COVID.
Chandra Nisbet-Cansino, C.E.O., Karl Heusner Memorial: “That was over a year and so we’re trying to address that as we go forward so there’s still a waiting time for elective surgeries at this time. We have opened just about all of our specialisation services as you can see today including the cardiac catalogue and so we hope that, you know, we are very much aware that we’re still in the middle of a pandemic. We’re very grateful that we’re not having severe diseases and hospitalisations as a result of COVID. But we still have protocols in place where we need to test all of our patients. If you come to the hospital with certain symptoms you go to he COVID unit as opposed to the emergency so we are still in a transition period for the hospital. It’s not as straightforward as for the general public.”
