Third Annual Alzheimer’s Seminar Held in Belmopan to Raise Awareness

The third annual Alzheimer’s Seminar was held today in the City of Belmopan. The annual event seeks to raise awareness and educate the public on the impacts of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The event brings together a wide range of stakeholders from both the private and public sectors to discuss best practices surrounding care, treatment, and diagnoses. Chairwoman of the Belmopan Alzheimer’s Chapter, Joyanne De Four-Babb, spoke about the importance of the event.

While dementia and Alzheimer’s disease often affect persons later in life, Ixchel Poot, Executive Director for the National Council on Ageing, says that people can take early steps to reduce the likelihood of being diagnosed with the diseases.

The association holds monthly events geared at reducing the stigma around dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
