Tonight, three Honduran women accused of attacking a food vendor outside the Lion King Bar in Belize City are spending their second night behind bars. The women, Kimberly Izaguirre, Evelyn Carranza, and Karol Castro have been charged with harm in connection with the incident. The women appeared unrepresented yesterday, where they were read a single charge of harm each. Due to the women’s lack of fixed addresses and the uncertainty surrounding their immigration status in Belize, the sitting Senior Magistrate denied bail and remanded them to the Belize Central Prison. The women will remain in custody until their next court date on January 14, 2025. The allegations stem from an altercation early Sunday morning on King Street. The victim, 31-year-old Kenia Yasmin Moz reported to police that at around 3:10 a.m., she was standing on King Street with her aunt when the women approached her. Moz alleged that one of the women, identified only as Kimberly, slapped her on the left side of her face, and the other two joined in the attack. Moz said she defended herself but sustained injuries, including swelling to both sides of her face and an injured left elbow.
