Three Injured in Shooting in Belize City

Police have confirmed that three persons were shot in the city early on Saturday morning. The victims have been identified as 27-year-old Khalil Heusner, 26-year-old Malique Humes and 21-year-old Ruben Usher. Investigators say the shooting occurred at around 6:55 am when the trio was standing at the corner of Berkley Street and Wagner’s Lane. One man appeared from a nearby alley and blasted a barrage of bullets in the group’s direction. Investigators believe the motive is rivalry. Sr. Supt Hilberto Romero updated the media.

Sr.Supt Hilberto Romero, OC, NCIB: “Police responded to a shooting incident on Wagner’s Lane Belize City. Upon their arrival information was received that three persons had been taken to the KHMH. Police visited the KHMH where they found Khalil Heusner, Malik Humes and Rueben Usher with gunshot injuries. Information is that they were on Wagner’s Lane when a person approached them and fired shots towards their direction. All persons have been treated at the KHMH and they have been released. Several persons are in custody for this shooting incident. It is a rivalry between two groups in that area.”

Reporter: Was any of the three men in particular the target or was it all three of them ?

Sr.Supt Hilberto Romero, OC, NCIB: “Yes they were the targets.”
