Three Police Officers Found Guilty of Manslaughter

The court has ruled that police officers Reydel Teck, Romelio Logan and Jashimir Cobb are responsible for the death of Edwin Ixpatec. Back in 2016, Ixpatec was brutally beaten while he was in a jail cell at the San Pedro Police Station. on Monday Supreme Court Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft found the three police officers guilty of manslaughter. The three convicted cops were remanded to the Belize Central Prison where they will await sentencing which is scheduled for November 9. Ixpatec, originally from Cayo District, was a bartender at Holiday Hotel. At the time of his death, the 30-year-old was planning a birthday celebration for his daughter, who was about to turn four. The autopsy, according to reports at the time, determined that Ixpatec died from a blunt injury to the head, something investigators reported he received while detained by San Pedro Police.
