There was another murder during the early hours of this morning, this time in Placencia. Three men, including a security guard, were stabbed, with one of them succumbing to his injuries. The incident occurred at around 1:30am when two of the victims and another man had to be escorted out of The Placencia Hotel Casino after they got into an altercation. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvette, told us more about what transpired.
A.C.P. Joseph Myvett – Head N.C.I.B.: “This morning sometime shortly before 2 am Placencia police were called to an area at a casino in Placencia where upon arrival they learned that there was an altercation earlier between the casino’s Security Guard, one Darwin Castillo and three brothers: Evaraldo Samayoa, 24 years of age, Marlon Samayoa, and another brother. What we know is that those persons were inside the casino consuming alcohol and whilst leaving they were approached by security who spoke to them about certain rules. As a result, this seemly caused those persons to get upset where they got into an altercation and the security was pushed down. This, however, did not end there as apparently the altercation continued towards the back of the building which resulted in the security receiving a cut wound to the left arm whilst Everaldo Samayoa received a stab wound to the right rib cage and was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he later died while undergoing treatment. Also injured was Marlon Samayoa who received a stab wound to his back. The police did find a machete however there seems to have not been any bloodstains on the machete but it was still detained as a part of the investigation.”
The altercation was reportedly caused after the three men refused to put their alcoholic beverage in disposable cups.
