Toledo District Residents Experience Flooding from Heavy Rains

Residents in several areas within the Toledo District experienced flooding over the long holiday weekend as excessive rains fell in the south. Water levels in Barranco were reportedly so high that the roads were impassable by vehicular traffic. Word from the Barranco Village Council is that the waters may have begun receding as of late this evening, but that checks will be made tomorrow. The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) also confirmed that Crique Sarco experienced flooding and that road access was limited due to high waters. Flooding was also confirmed in Santa Ana and San Felipe. We’ll be following up with authorities on the state of the affected villages tomorrow.
