Tourism Minister to open to working with Opposition Leader in having Vybz Kartel come to Belize

Tourism Minister, Anthony Mahler, indicated today that he has no problem working with the opposition leader in having Vybz Kartel come to Belize.  His remarks, however, were not made without a few jabs at Moses Shyne Barrow.  According to Mahler, Barrow who was once Belize’s Music Ambassador has made promises before.  To date, Mahler says he is still waiting on Jay-Z, P-Diddy and other undelivered celebrities.  In addition to that, Mahler also spoke on his willingness towards an audit of the Belize Music and Food Festival that Barrow has been clamoring for.

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism: “We produced the report on our website and we’ll do so again. In fact he called me to state that he wanted to join me out there and show a bipartisan approach, I waited for him he never showed up. But he apologized because his party is in turmoil and I think that’s more pressing than him going to meet Vybz Cartel or being at the Music Festival.”

Reporter: He also said he wants you to meet with him to welcome Cartel when he comes to Belize for the tourism value.

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism: “Well I don’t know what kind of value that will bring but ay exposure is exposure so we’ll see where we go with that. We har Khalid is coming he hasn’t come yet, we heard Jay Z is coming he hasn’t come yet, we heard PDiddy is coming…has he gone to jail yet ? So we will see. I like Vybz’s music though.”

Opposition Leader Barrow had asked for an audit of the festival last Tuesday when he made his media rounds.
