Tracy Panton speaks on OSH Bill

There is no definitive timeline – at least not yet – on when the final implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Bill takes place. However, as we’ve reported, both the NTUCB’s and the Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s presidents have indicated that they are pleased with the pace of the developments on this issue. Albert Area Representative, Tracy Panton was asked about it. Here’s what she had to say on the matter.

Tracy Panton, Area Representative, Albert: “Everything boils down to the cost of doing business. Right? That’s the bottom line and we find ourselves in a very difficult place as a developing country. These policies are absolutely important to safeguard the safety, and health, and well being of our working class. We have to balance that with what we can afford to do at a time like this. I haven’t gotten a recent update myself on where we are actually in the implementation process but ideally that should have been well on its way to full implementation.”
