Tragic Accident Claims Life of Dangriga Mayor’s Brother in Belize City

A freak incident in the Jimmy Dyer area of Fabers Road, Belize City, has claimed the life of Nuridin Mariano, the brother of Dangriga Mayor Robert Mariano. Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred earlier this evening while Mariano was working on his truck. According to eyewitnesses, he had asked someone to start the vehicle. Unbeknownst to the helper, the truck had been left in gear. Upon ignition, the vehicle surged forward, pinning Mariano between it and another parked truck. The force of the impact left him motionless, and emergency services quickly responded to the scene. Despite their efforts, Mariano succumbed to his injuries on-site. Our newsroom contacted Mayor Mariano who said he would not comment due to lines still being blurred in the reports he has been receiving.
