An 11-month little girl died last night after sustaining injuries in a hit and run incident on the Hummingbird Highway. Just before seven o’clock last night, 45-year-old Moises Mejia Quinteros was on a motorcycle with his partner, 27-year-old Kaylie Aparicio, and their two children when a silver/grey Toyota Forerunner SUV rear-ended them. The driver of the SUV did not stop to render aid, but a passerby provided assistance and took the family to the Western Regional Hospital. The couple and their toddler survived the hit but baby Giselle Mejia was pronounced dead just after seven o’clock last night as a result of severe head trauma. Aparicio had abrasions on both hands and knees while the 23-month-old toddler had an abrasion on the forehead as well as a deep cut wound above the right eyebrow. Quinteros sustained minor injuries but complained of pain in the right arm. The incident occurred between miles 49 and 50 on the Hummingbird Highway near the Agua Viva community. Love News understands that the family was heading towards Belmopan when they were hit. We further understand that vehicle that hit them had no license plate and had customized fenders. The family of the victims is asking for the public’s help in trying to locate the driver of the SUV.
