Tragic Incident Leaves Belize Defense Force Soldier Dead After Stabbing Family

The family of thirty-two-year-old Belize Defense Force soldier Adrian Flores is in shock tonight after Flores stabbed his common-law wife and child and then apparently took his own life. Flores was in Hopkins Village last night when he got into a dispute with his twenty-eight-year-old partner.  As the situation escalated, he reportedly stabbed Nunez and eight-year-old Adrian Flores Junior. Police found him just after eight-thirty this morning, hanging from a mango tree on the south side of the village. He also had a knife with a white handle in the waist of his pants, and several cuts on his body. His sister, Milesha Flores, told Love News that her family is trying to come to grips with the reality of what happened. She said that she was close to him and she knew he was going through some personal problems but could not believe that things would have turned out this way.

Melisha also told Love News that she has since spoken to Nunez and checked on her nephew, who is still in recovery. Adrian Flores was to turn thirty-three on September 28. His death incidentally comes at a time when activities are being held around the country in preparation for the 2023 observation of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10.  Love News has learnt of a second suicide that occurred in Belmopan where 64-year-old, Micheal Luis Zetina, was found dead in his bedroom.
