Tragic Motorcycle Collision Claims Life in Western Belize

A man lost his life in a road traffic incident in western Belize this morning. The incident happened shortly before eleven o’clock on the Iguana Creek Road, Spanish Lookout. 40-year-old, Alvaro Perez, was riding his motorcycle when he collided with the back of a pickup truck that was making a turn into an unknown street. The Duck Run resident ended up under the pickup on impact, and sustained fatal injuries. Perez was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he died whilst undergoing treatment. The driver of the pickup truck, Mark Mar, told police he was turning into an unknown street and was headed toward an incoming vehicle so he made another right turn. Mar said he heard a loud bang at the rear of his vehicle. That’s when he got out and saw Perez on the pavement. Police are investigating.
