The Belize Solid Waste Management Authority has stated that the operational transfer stations in Belize City, San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, San Ignacio/Santa Elena and Burrell Boom remain open for the reception of waste. They are appealing to the public to exercise caution with respect to the management of waste generated within the household and have outlined a few requests. They ask that persons ensure that all waste is properly bagged reducing and limiting exposure to the waste materials by collectors. They ask that waste such as used tissue, wipes, paper hand towels, diapers, used gloves, and other hygiene products be placed in double bags. They ask that persons only place garbage bags outside until the designated collection day and if possible close to the routine collection time. Also to secure waste properly to limit access by stray animals and rodents.
