Transport Minister Comments on CEO

Marco Leal Junior remains the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport. The CEO also remains on vacation, and his future in the ministry will be known when he returns to work. That’s according to Minister Rodwell Ferguson. The minister and the CEO have a less than cordial relationship at the moment, as we have been reporting. This morning, we asked the minister for an update on Leal Jr’s status with the ministry.

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport: “I don’t know at this point in time because the Prime Minister is the one who appoints CEOs in every different departments or ministry. I know he’s on vacation and when he comes back the Prime Minister will decide if there is going to be a change.”

Reporter: That’s a very long vacation.

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport: “I don’t know I guess it’s less than a month.”

Reporter: Would you want him back to work with you in the ministry ? 

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport: ” I publicly say that the relationship over the years maybe had just I don’t know severed and so I guess they’re looking for another place to put him when he returns.”

Reporter: Is it that you’re not able to fix the relationship for the betterment of the ministry ? 

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport: “I can work with anybody so it’s not an issue with me but I want to see the job get done in my ministry and get it done properly.”
