Three persons are missing after failing to return home this weekend. The trio had left home en route to Mapp Caye. The men have been identified as 22-year-old Sheldon Gibson, Elijah Usher, and Kevin Roaches. Reports are that they left on November 22 in Gibson’s white, 18-foot, fiberglass boat name Loriannie. Gibson’s sister became concerned when he did not return home. According to her, they have not seen them nor heard from them since they left. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvette, briefed the media today on the joint operations underway with the Belize Coast Guard.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On Saturday Belize City police received a report from a relative of one Sheldon Gibson. She reported to the police that on Friday Sheldon Gibson, 22 years who is her brother along with one Elijah Usher and Kevin Roches, left Belize City in a white skiff to go fishing in the Mapp Caye area. Family members have tried contacting them since Friday and have been unable to do so. As a result of the report having been received police an Coast Guard visited the Mapp Caye area where searches have been going on since the report was made however so far they have not been found so the searches continue.”
This is the third curious case in the area of Mapp Caye for this year. In January the owner of Mapp Caye, Evan Neal, disappeared and his watchman was found murdered. Five months later in June, five men were killed behind Mapp Caye. If anyone has any information regarding the trio’s whereabouts, they are asked to kindly contact the nearest Police station.
