Tropical Wave Expected to Bring More Showers Following Northern Floods

And while the rains that caused the flooding in the north are expected to die down, more showers are on the way, according to the National Meteorological Service. The Met Service says that a tropical wave is approaching the country, which will bring showers up to the weekend. Forecaster Francisca Wellington spoke to our newsroom and stated that the only reprieve from the rains will be tomorrow during the day.

Francisca Wellington, Forecaster, National Meteorological Service of Belize: “The atmosphere its relatively moist and we will continue to see showers during the course of tonight. We get a break during tomorrow but tomorrow night we’ll see showers increasing and that’s because a tropical wave is moving towards us. And from what I am seeing for Thursday that tropical wave should cross us for Friday, Saturday the moisture behind the tropical wave will continue to affect us. So the best day for this week will be tomorrow and then thereafter we will see showers off and on during the day time and night time right through to the weekend. This weekend will be moist again but not as moist as the last weekend. So some parts of the country could see up to an inch of rainfall especially over the central / southern areas. Central areas would include Belize district, part of like Southern Orange Walk district, the Cayo district and then more south would be the southern districts.”

The National Met Service urges Belizeans to rely only on information from official sources.
