Twin Siblings Shot Dead in Hattieville Ambush

A quiet Monday afternoon in Hattieville was shattered by violence when two siblings were gunned down just before three o’clock on Ysaguirre Boulevard.  The victims have been identified as Paul Esquiliano and his twin sister Paula Belisle, both residents of the village. One resident explained to Love News that Paula had called on her brother for assistance after a heated dispute at her home. A dispute that reportedly involved a man linked to her deceased daughter.  It was during this intervention that both siblings were ambushed and fatally shot.  When police arrived on the scene, both Esquiliano and Belisle had already succumbed to their injuries. The circumstances leading to the argument are yet to be verified, but investigators are pursuing several leads.  The incident has left many in the Hattieville community shaken. Village Chairman Stephen Coleman, in an interview this evening, expressed deep concern and described the tragedy as a heavy blow to the village. He emphasized that such acts of violence are uncommon in the community and called for greater unity and vigilance among residents.

Stephen Coleman, Chairman, Hattieville: “It’s a sad situation no ? I’m away working down south in Bella Vista Village when I heard about it. It really really shocked me to the core because I was very close to both of them and the gentleman Mr.Paul is one of our counselor’s dad, Paul Diaz, my deep condolences I can only imagine how she’s feeling at this point in time. And even today the lady, it’s actually his twin sister. So very outstanding citizens of Hattieville, very peaceful, very church going. Paul just recently resigned from many years or service with the Belize City Council. I had him as going to be in charge of the cemetery up there in Hattieville so it’s really really a shock. I can’t even imaging now why. That’s the big question right now. I just got of the phone with my mom and she was giving me an explanation of what the story took place. It’s real shocker and I’m trying to comprehend. I guess I will give Paul a call later and express my deep condolences no ?”

Police continue to process the scene and interview witnesses as the investigation remains active. Authorities are urging anyone with information to assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
